Barbershop Ristorante Italiano Pops Up at AOC Soon

New, 3 comments

Hearing that Suzanne Goin will relocate her staple farm to table wine bar AOC to the Il Covo space came as a surprise, but before that can happen she is ceding over part of the building's second floor to chef Walter el Nagar (Il Grano, La Botte) and his Barbershop Ristorante Italiano pop-up. Running December 19 to January 12 from Wednesday to Saturday, el Nagar will serve a seasonal, contemporary Italian menu with Italian wines selected by wine director and partner Mario Vollera (Piccolo Venice). Reservations must be made in advance via Urban Spoon.

In other news, as it so goes with pop-ups, Barbershop at AOC is a test run for a brick and mortar restaurant el Nagar hopes to open in Venice. The chef describes the eatery as a "momofuku ko style restaurant" (which means that there will be one multi-course set menu each night, no a la carte ordering, and perhaps a dining bar) and he's currently looking at spaces in Venice.
