Morimoto at LAX? Pshhhh. Tom Bradley International Terminal at LAX is getting a MAJOR and pretty epic culinary upgrade with a slew of local chef-driven concepts. All together now: It's about time. The terminal, undergoing an $80 million dining/retail boost, has secured partnerships to bring in Michael Voltaggio's popular sandwich seller ink.sack, Susan Feniger and Mary Sue Milliken's Border Grill, an Umami Burger, a LAMILL coffee shop, yet another outlet for Suzanne Goin and Caroline Styne's Larder at Tavern, popular quick-serve pizza place 800 Degrees, steak from III Forks, Chaya, Lucky Fish by Sushi Roku, caviar depot Petrossian, a wine shop called Vino Volo, Amy Pressman/Nancy Silverton's Short Cake, Vanilla Bake Shop, James Beach, and one of the first Starbucks Evenings locations. WOW.
Less exciting but still of note, Cantina Laredo, Marmalade Café, Pinkberry, Starbucks Coffee, Drink.LA, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Scoreboard LA, and Panda Express will fill additional food vendors spaces. As for the opening timeframe, expect phase one of the project to launch in spring 2013, followed by the second phase in 2014.
