Chef Jeremy Fox is not so long gone from Barnyard. However, the restaurant has already restocked its kitchen with a Venice vet, chef Jesse Barber, three year chef de cuisine from nearby The Tasting Kitchen. Some facts about Barber: he specializes in whole animal butchery; he gravitates toward seasonal, farm-to-table ingredients; and he'll cook you dinner at home for $550 per person. Or $150. Barber is a Thomas Keller Restaurant Group alum and he also spent time in Portland at Blue Hour and Decarli. And now, finally, after years of executing other people's visions, he has secured the executive chef position at Barnyard which chef Jeremy Fox left behind.
Not straying too far from The Tasting Kitchen ideals, at Barnyard Barber will serve a simple, ingredient-driven menu with Mediterranean influences. Last we checked Barnyard was coming together aesthetically, and management intends on opening late January 2013.
