127 S. La Brea Ave is the future home of La Condesa, a James Beard Foundation Award-nominated Mexican restaurant with locations in both Austin and Napa Valley. Inspired by the bohemian Condesa neighborhood in Mexico City, La Condesa serves a menu of modern Mexican plates with traditional regional influences conceived by executive chef Rene Ortiz and pastry chef Laura Sawicki who was JUST named a Food & Wine "Best New Pastry Chef." She's famous for "Hoja Santa" a construction that calls for semifreddo with brandied cherries, almond brittle, chocolate sauce and birch beer marshmallow crème.
Co-owners Jesse Herman and Delfo Trombetta first debuted La Condesa to Austin in 2009, followed by St. Helena just last year. They plan to open this LA branch in early 2013.
