Food Truck operators listen up. Assemblymember Bill Monning has introduced a bill that prohibits food trucks from serving within 1,500 feet of elementary and secondary schools from 6AM to 6PM on school days in California. Supposedly, "Mobile food vending poses a threat to student safety as well as student nutrition." Food Truck operators are outraged since this would prohibit them from selling to nearby patrons unrelated to schools. Monning explains that the initiative is targeted at candy, chip, and soda sellers as opposed to gourmet food trucks and he is thus working to revise the bill. [CSA via OCR]
