A thread of 'hounders are rather skeptical as to the inception of an Asian Night Market or (626) Night Market in Pasadena on N. Oakland Ave between Colorado Blvd and Union St. Not to be confused with Kris Yenbamroong's Night + Market restaurant (high five to Kris for nabbing a James Beard Rising Star Chef nom last week) on Sunset Blvd which is, really, an ode to the street food of Thailand.
According to the (626) Night Market's website, this is the only Asian Night Market in SoCal, slated to test waters April 14. However, it's still in planning mode and just today organizers initiated a Kickstarter campaign to collect opening funds. As for participating vendors, not many. But one of note is a Dragon's Beard candy maker -- an ancient Chinese confection sometime dubbed Chinese cotton candy. It's difficult to make (video here) and difficult to find.
