Giacomino Drago's Il Buco has been reborn as A1 Cucina Italiana operated by Danilo Terribili (Pastagina, Alto Palato) and cheffed by Fredy Escobar (Rex, Alto Palato). Compared to Il Buco's unfancy aesthetic, the completely overhauled space now feels clean and modern, characterized by deep brown hues and splashes of color thanks to those hanging orange lights and outdoor chairs. The restaurant - which is divided into two floors - offers booth and banquette seating, and more frequently than not wine bottles stand in for art.

Starting March 1 chef Escobar will serve a simple Italian menu with all plates priced under $23 like Mediterranean Dorade with grilled friarielli peppers and spaghetti alla chitarra.
