Neighbor Says Ye Coach & Horses May Reopen in April

New, 8 comments

Fans of Ye Coach & Horses need not worry. It looks like the 70-something-year-old dive bar is well on its way to a relaunch. The British-themed pub in the heart of Hollywood caused a stir when patrons heard longtime owner Jane Grant was getting the boot from landlord/neighbor Samuel French bookstore. Then came news that bar owners Jared Meisler and Sean MacPherson (Roger Room) stepped in, saying they would “maybe” saddle up and take the reigns of the historic bar that back in the day mixed drinks for Richard Burton and Richard Harris. In 2010 Meisler said that “a takeover would keep [Ye Coach & Horses] true to its roots and preserve its history,” adding that a reopening was years in the making.

Well, it looks like the time has come. On a recent trip to Sunset Boulevard, Eater found Ye Coach renovations in full swing. A peak behind the plywood reveals that the wood-rich interior will stay the same, albeit with a new coat of varnish, but the spiffy white-tiled kitchen in the back hints that a new menu might be paired with those old-Hollywood cocktails.
