While Umami Burger JUST announced growth to New York, the LA-based gourmet burger chainlet is still spreading its buns in this here city. Next up comes a 1,200 square foot mini me version of Umami to Westwood Village (former Spudnick's on Westwood Blvd.) under the name U-Mini, not to be confused with U-ko, Umami's lower priced, fast casual concept. Projected to open this summer, U-Mini will offer 45 seats, no waiters, and the edited Umami menu incorporates "new test products," so says the release. This location will focus on quick-serve and to-go business, and also experiment with web and app ordering. All edibles to be served to eco-friendly VerTerra dinnerware.
