Welcome to Meanwhile, In SGV a regular feature in which TC, our fearless leader in all things San Gabriel Valley, brings word of restaurant openings, closings, and other unsung, curious neighborhood goings on.

1) San Gabriel: Little Sheep, the most popular hot potting restaurant in China (now owned by Yum! Brands), has begun its aggressive SoCal expansion. The San Gabriel restaurant's build started in October, and per the US brand manager, Little Sheep will soft open next week on W. Valley Blvd. Expect the same recipes served at the perpetually steamy Hacienda Heights branch. Next stop: Irvine, then Flushing (NY). Little Sheep is also hiring all restaurant positions from dishwashers to cashiers to assistant branch managers. San Gabriel Square (aka Great Mall) will no doubt have even busier weekend parking lots this month. Over 400 branches of Little Sheep exist in China. 140 W Valley Blvd. #213

2) Temple City: More tea house news. Guppy House, originated from Cerritos, CA, has received permission to open a 4,800-square-foot full service restauarant in Temple City. The proposed 135 seat eatery will offer the same "Guppy Specials" (strawberry shaved ice, popcorn chicken, butter coconut bricktoast, $20.50) as other locations until 2AM daily. This will be Guppy's fifth location. Construction has not yet begun. 5747 Rosemead Ave.
