Last night chef turned first time restaurateur Eric Park (The Spotted Pig, Eleven Madison Park - NYC) opened Black Hogg, a quaint, if sparse, Silver Lake restaurant (designed by Brendan Ravenhill who is responsible for the Osteria La Buca reboot) focusing on seasonal specialties inspired by Old World cuisine. Oysters and mignonette, sausages, mussels in white wine, fish and chips, steak frites, marrow bones, crostini, pates paired with New World spices and flavors from chiles to fresh herbs with a healthy dose of acid to brighten up plates. Everything served here is made in-house from spicy pickles to smoky bacon. Unfortch, there's no beer or wine at the moment but Park is working on securing such a license. Current hours of operation run Tuesday through Saturday 6-11PM and Sunday 5-10PM.
