WHOA. Russ Parsons, food editor over at the ever changing LA Times drops one more bomb: "Starting this week, The Times will no longer run star ratings with our restaurant reviews." Parsons goes on to barely explain the decision citing difficulty in aligning stars with the varied Los Angeles dining landscape that includes food trucks, pop-ups, neighborhood haunts, and fine dining affairs. He writes, "Clearly, you can’t fairly assess all these using the same rating system." To substantiate the point further he confides that "the stars have never been popular with critics because they reduce a thoughtful and nuanced critique to a simple score." B-A-N-A-N-A-S. Thoughts welcome in the comments.
