In yet another spin on the food-truck-goes-brick-and-mortar scenario, Muse Lifestyle Group last week announced Calle Tacos trestaurant. It's a first for LA. Imagine, a restaurant counter serving street food out of the side of a food truck that's built into a wall. Check it out, above. Owners Dorian and Javier Villaseñor (Tacos Don Chente, among other restaurants) partnered with Muse to add an edge to their concept and bring it to Hollywood. The family is known for their al pastor, which is pork that they marinate in chili and infuse with pineapple so that it's spicy and sweetly acidic.
At Calle, they wanted to capture the street food experience while still offering seating, the option for entertainment, and a clean kitchen. "Why chase food trucks around LA?" said Dorian. Instead of playing that game, the couple and Muse partnered to bring two nightlife favorites together. Though they are planning on doing something special for Cinco de Mayo, Calle may be soft open as early as next week.
