Pig Roast Benefits Taste of the Nation, Sizzler's Expansion

New, 1 comment

SANTA MONICA— Wilshire Restaurant is throwing a backyard pig roast on Sunday, April 22 to benefit Share Our Strength and promote this year's Taste of the Nation. Chefs Nyesha Arrington of Wilshire and Chris Crary of Whist host a gathering of Los Angeles’ Top Chef, Top Chef Masters, and Top Chef Just Dessert contestants who will each prepare sides and desserts. It's a star line-up of chefs: Alex Reznik, Antonia LaFaso, Ilan Hall, Jamie Lauren, Sally Camacho, Marcel Vigneron, CJ Jacobson, Danielle Keene, Mark Peel, and Suzanne Tracht. Tickets are $55. Attendees may also purchase discounted tickets for Taste of the Nation at this event. [EaterWire]

LA-LA-LAND— Instead of folding, Sizzler tells the Orange County Register about its expansion plans. And instead of focusing on its grilled meats, Sizzler is now going to be pushing (wait for it) farm-to-table menu items. [OCR, via GS]

BELMONT SHORE— The opening of Simmzy's Belmont Shore is coming to a month near you. This April, as expected, and it comes with a pizza called the Arugula Foldover, a goat cheese and pesto pizza topped with a peppery arugula salad. Other menu items include a short rib hash and a chili verde mac 'n cheese. [EaterWire]
