Here's a new pop-up to talk about. Mike D of the Beastie Boys has asked Kogi chef Roy "Papi" Choi to cook at TRANSMISSION LA: A/V CLUB, a 17 day audio/visual festival taking place at MOCA in downtown. Choi will helm an outdoor pop-up restaurant at the event and each day he will offer a different menu with dishes never before served at any of his restaurants. The word, according to Choi: "Mike D asked me to participate in Transmission LA: AV Club. I don't know where you come from but in my world if Mike D steps to me, I listen. I want to extend what we do on the streets on step further into an exploration of flavor and straight gangster love. There will be a mess hall where we will ask you to find a seat or not. I want us to have a love in, a sit in, a freaking crazy outdoor celebration to find a new way of connecting to each other. Oh yeah, I'll be cooking something new every Thursday, Friday and Saturday on top of the crew banging out the OG Kogi menu, so the food will change throughout the exhibit. Just come and kick it with me." [EaterWire]
