Italy & California Collide at Pasadena's Trattoria Neapolis

Well, the rustic modern Trattoria Neapolis, a new Italian restaurant inspired by the seasonal bounty of Southern California, didn't open early 2012 as originally suggested. A passion project by Pasadena local Perry Vidalakis, designed by Hatch Design Group (Tin Roof Bistro, Water Grill), Trattoria Neapolis will serve a market driven Southern Italian menu with many dishes cooked within the restaurant's wood-burning oven. Expect pasta, salumi, and bread to be made in-house. Appropriately, California and Italian wines (especially from their southern regions) on offer, twenty by the glass, and many more by bottle. Fourteen beers on tap, plus additional by bottle, all hailing from California and Italy's craft brewers. Finally, Cali/Italian specialty cocktails and American coffee brewed via a La Marzocco GB5. Tentative opening: Late June.
