VENICE— Word on the street is that the Ace Trophy building, that yellowish/cream eyesore just east of Venice Beach Wines on Rose, has been claimed and will be retooled into yet another new restaurant. No word on operator or concept, but here's a LoopNet listing which indicates that the property is off the market. [EaterWire]

SANTA MONICA— West 4th and Jane has a new chef and new menu to talk about. Chef Ryan Turner joins the gastropub by way of Vu in MdR and before that Saucebox, Noble Rot, and the Screen Door in Portland. He has expanded West 4th's menu with updated classics like Spaetzle Mac and Cheese, Wild Boar Rib, and Calamari Frites. [EaterWire]
