In January, Westside Tavern, the American restaurant within the Westside Pavilion mall on Pico, posted a job call for a new executive chef. Reps claimed managing partner and previous executive chef Warren Schwartz was not decamping, unfortunately this is not true. As of last week Schwartz has departed the restaurant though he will continue to oversee food for the next three months. In his place as executive chef comes Ben Cohn who worked with Schwartz at WT over the past year.
Schwartz says that he is working on developing two new restaurant concepts headed to TX, GA, or possibly DC. He describes one as "an upscale wood fire pizza concept" and the other, named American Food and Beverage, or American F&B, will manifest as a modern tavern serving regional American cuisine with a more product-focused menu than Westside Tavern.
