As expected, it's all over. Yesterday evening chef Octavio Becerra issued, via newsletter, a final closing statement for Palate Food + Wine, his restaurant which shuttered on March 23, though at first was only "temporarily closed for re-organization." Shocked employees wrote in to Eater explaining that they had been given no prior warning of the restaurant's termination, and thus felt hurt by a chef they once respected. Becerra too claims to be "shocked," and says he would now like "to exit thoughtfully, carefully, and graciously." However, he does still "look forward to the future."
