HOLLYWOOD—A worried reader writes in: "It concerns Angel'z Coffee Shop in Hollywood, at the edge of Thai Town. It's been open 51 years, but the hotel (The Dixie Hollywood, formerly a Days Inn) that owns the building won't renew its lease. They want something more 'polished.' Angel'z is authentic and cheap and wonderful, a truly unique institution in Hollywood. The owner has manned the grill for 51 years and feels he has 5 good years left. This is true gentrification. There is a group of locals who are trying to save the historic coffee shop (the last of its kind)." [Eater Inbox]
LONG BEACH— On June 10, Beachwood BBQ & Brewing hosts the 10th installment of DioNicEss X, a food and rare craft beer dinner this time titled DioNicEss X: Coming of Age.
