In less than two years Top Chef alum Brian Malarkey and partner James Brennan have opened four San Diego restaurants (Searsucker, Burlap, Gingham, and Gabardine) and they're about to share a fifth on May 23: Herringbone. Talk about a fabric fetish. Malarkey's choice to hire former Water Grill executive chef and Top Chef contestant Amanda Baumgarten makes complete sense since Herringbone will serve animals from the ocean or an "ocean bazaar." The menu is divided to “Cold,” “Hot,” “Green,” and “Crust,” and each plate highlights a different protein. Malarkey, never one to shy away from exotic meats.
Lauded San Diego-based mixology team Snake Oil Cocktail Co. is in tow to create a list of fresh fruit and vegetable adult beverages. Those looking to avoid the sweeter stuff can opt for a local craft beer or wine.
