The day is here. sugarFISH has taken over where Sushi Nozawa left off. The sugarFISH newsletter brings word that at 11:30AM today Kazunomi Nozawa's casual sushi spinoff opens its fifth location in the space where 25-seat Sushi Nozawa served for 25 years. Nozawa himself says, "After making sushi behind the bar at Sushi Nozawa for 25 years, it was difficult to close the doors, but I’m excited that SUGARFISH will continue my legacy of authentic sushi of the very best quality." The rules of engagement at the original Sushi Nozawa were simple. No cell phones, no children, and NO sending back food. Trust your sushi chef (or you will be kicked out of the restaurant), and thusly Nozawa became notorious for his "Trust Me" omakase signage which hung behind the sushi bar.

Glen Bell of DEX Studio, who also designed sugarFISH Santa Monica, Downtown, and Brentwood, overhauled the space but pays homage to Sushi Nozawa days with a framed collection of that "Trust Me" art, some of which was given to Nozawa by patrons over the years. So, the vitals. sugarFISh Studio City is open daily for lunch and dinner from 11:30AM to 2:30PM and 5:30 to 10:30PM. Valet parking is avail.
