Whole Duck Foie Dinners at Melisse, The Royce, Lemon Moon, Animal

A whole slew of shmancy high calories foie gras dinners are planned for May 14. One of the four foie gras feasts takes place at Animal (Roland Passot of La Folie in SF is joining Jon, Vinny, Ludo, and M.Volt), meanwhile Melisse, The Royce, and Lemon Moon are also staging artery-clogging culinary happenings. Organized by C.H.E.F.S. (the Coalition for Humane and Ethical Farming Standards), each of the aforementioned eateries will serve a six-course prix fix foie gras dinner priced at $200 a head and $150 for Lemon Moon only (includes tax and, for once, gratuity). The idea here is to support sustainable farming practices and cook with the "whole duck." Notable chefs from NorCal and SoCal have signed up to cook.

· Lemon Moon – Tony Esnault (Patina), Octavio Becerra, Joey Elentario (Chez TJ in Mountain View), Marc Zimmerman (Alexander’s Steakhouse in San Francisco) and Dustin Valette (Charlie Palmer’s Dry Kitchen in Healdsburg)
