For those who watch Food Network, the name Adam Gertler might sound familiar. He's the host of Will Work For Food and Kid In A Candy Store, and soon he'll add the title of restaurateur to his resume. Adam and his brother Keith are looking to open an eatery called Gertler's Kitchen in Manhattan or Hermosa Beach. The basic concept, described by Adam, is "barbecue meets Jewish deli meets gastropub through a New Orleans filter."
But in the meantime the brothers are testing the concept with a slew of pop-ups throughout the summer. They're starting off at Santa Monica live music venue TRiP on June 1 and 2 (this is the second weekend the pop-up is running), serving from 7PM-1AM. The menu features house-cured and smoked meats, mostly in sandwich form. TRiP stocks domestic and international craft beer and local Malibu wine to drink. [EaterWire]
