DOWNTOWN—Last year Brigham Yen reported that fast casual Ocho Mexican Grill would open a second location downtown in Bunker Hill. Looks like this sophomore effort should open in the near future, right now management is hiring. [Craigslist]

GLASSELL PARK— Grub Street relays news that Lemon Poppy Kitchen is now soft open in Verdugo Plaza on Verdugo Road. The bakery and cafe is a project from Anca Caliman and Jack Wilson of Anca's Romanian, along with Katie Kildow of jam company From the Robin's Nest. LPK serves Romanian flatbreads, seasonal baked goods, and Handsome coffee. [GS]

WEHO— LA's Vegan Beer Festival returns May 12 from 1-5PM at The Roxy on Sunset. Co-hosted by vegan blogger Quarry Girl, VIP tickets cost $55 now or $60 there, and GA tickets cost $45 now or $50 there. Patrons score unlimited beer from Anchor, Epic, Golden Road Brewing, and Karl Strauss, and meat-free meals from Seabirds, Mandoline Grill, Fresh Fries, Doomie’s, and Plant Food for People. [LAmag]
