Next door to Tsujita LA Artisan Noodles on Sawtelle is Nongla, a tiny family run Vietnamese restaurant preparing for its May 20 public debut. Operated by mother and daughter-son team Khanh Phan and Elaine and Victor Phuong, Mom Khanh serves as head chef cooking this menu of homestyle Vietnamese recipes from soup to noodles to banh mi, all under $10. Although there's an application for beer and wine in the window, Nongla doesn't expect to offer booze until (hopefully) June. And once the restaurant is up and running, anticipate regional dishes to appear as daily specials.
