Killer Cafe Opened Yesterday, Have a Look Inside

Kevin Michaels (son of Lee Michaels, the rocker) opened Killer Shrimp, his other restaurant, in the spot that now houses Killer Cafe. When Killer Shrimp moved over to the bigger space, Michaels hadn't thought about opening a breakfast cafe. But then the space stayed vacant. "I wanted to eat the food I grew up eating," by which he means, the easy Venice Beach-style eggs, toast, and any-way-you-want-them omelettes.

Killer Cafe is the only on-the-water restaurant in Los Angeles with dock and dine access. The cafe is located in the elbow of Basin E. Boaters along the coast are welcome to dock at Killer Cafe's private dock and then dine on the large patio or inside at a booth or at the bar. There is also public parking for cars and bikes, and the cafe is on the coastal bike and walking path.

Chef Lorenzo, who also makes the food for Killer Shrimp, is making Michaels' all-American food daily. There is a full bar. The cafe is emphasizing breakfast items because it is open from 6 AM to 1 PM during the week, and until 2 PM on weekends. After hours, all of the staff walk over to Killer Shrimp for lunch and dinner.
