For at least the next year, chef Ari Taymor has found a residence to house his Alma pop-up dining concept which kicked off in Venice, then relocated to Silver Lake, and finally settled at 952 S. Broadway. If the space proves to be a fit, Taymor says he could stay even longer. Starting June 27, Alma will serve Tuesday through Saturday from 6-10:30 p.m. with both an a la carte menu (dishes priced $4 to $24) and a multi-course tasting menu at $80 available by reservation only. Taymor explains, "This tasting menu will be personalized for each individual party." BYO continues, however Chris Yamashiro will helm a beverage program inclusive of custom blended teas, house made sodas, and infusions made from farmers market ingredients.
Down the line, Taymor expects to open for lunch Monday through Friday, however chef de cuisine Derrick de Jesus will oversee that menu inspired by dishes he grew up eating in the SGV. So, think ramen, steamed buns, that kinda thing. Interested diners can make a resy through Almafoodandwine@gmail.com or wait until the UrbanSpoon system kicks in on June 20.
