Mezze's New Bar, More on Blok, Clusi Batusi Updates

WEST HOLLYWOOD— Mezze on La Cienega today introduces a redesigned bar and new cocktail program developed by sous chef Jonathan Whitener. Physically, the bar area is now separated from the dining room by a low wooden wall, and a new banquette and perched tables were added as well. Some drink additions: Deli Juice (gin, dill pickle, Serrano pepper, and mustard seed), Art of Choke (pickled artichoke, Bulleit rye, Pimms Cup, and Cynar), and Sumac 75 (Champagne, Cocchi Americano, pomegranate, and sumac). HOLLYWOOD— A few more details on the Crimson to Blok switcheroo. SBE's newest club opens tonight and supposedly the venue's entrance is concealed to look industrial, almost Cold War-esque. There is both an elevated DJ booth and stage for which management is looking to book a variety of performers, not just live music. Out back one will find a secluded area surrounded by concrete bleachers. For now Blok will open on Tuesdays and Fridays. [EaterWire]

WEST LA— Catherine Keith of Clusi Batusi on Sawtelle sends word that her customizable pizza parlor should open at the end of July or beginning of August. Her son, Michele Gargani, will serve as chef. [EaterWire]
