Patina's C+M Coffee and Milk Debuts at LACMA in July

New, 4 comments

Before there was Ray's and Stark Bar, Patina Group operated Pentimento Cafe in the main courtyard of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. It was a simple museum cafe, next door to a gift shop, with light salads and sandwiches, tea and wine. Earlier this year, Pentimento shuttered for renovations. We now learn that the space will reopen as C+M Coffee and Milk, described as a contemporary coffee bar. It will serve direct-trade Intelligentsia coffee/espresso drinks and, in a new twist on the drip coffee bar standard, organic milk sorbet. The sorbet is versatile: it can be blended into frothy coffee or fruit shakes or (embracing another trend) sandwiched between cookies. A selection of sweet and savory pastries round out the food offerings at C+M. The menu is a collaboration between Patina's founder, Joachim Splichal and Pastry Chef Josh Graves, Paul Sanguinetti and Kris Morningstar. Gregg Wiele, Corporate Executive Chef of Patina Restaurant Group is also named as a consulting chef. Because Patina owns a liquor license for this property, patrons may opt to add a shot of something stronger to their espresso, perhaps an artisanal spirit. Indoor and outdoor seating will be available for 58 once the coffee bar opens in late July.
