Hot Chocolate, Candy, and Vegan Eats to Downtown, Next Month's Top Chef Invasion, More!

DOWNTOWN— Not only is that historical chocolate shop recently discovered downtown slated for rebirth, but owner Charles Aslan is also planning an "authentic" hot chocolate bar, candy store, and vegan restaurant. The hot chocolate shop, located up front, will serve hot chocolate made from just water and cocoa, with customer seating located behind. The candy store will be positioned toward the rear of the space, meanwhile the vegan restaurant will be built above. [blogdowntown]

DOWNTOWN— Newbie downtown addition Eat.Drink.Americano has a little pre-July 4th dealio in place. This weekend the restaurant is selling Napa Smith Pilsner for $2 and an Oxtail Slider & Slaw Combo for $10. [EaterWire]

HANCOCK PARK— On July 29 GLAAD holds its annual Top Chef Invasion afternoon in Hancock Park, this year hosted by actress Fran Drescher. Full details here, but this is one of those summer soirees with tasting booths from Top Cheffers and a silent auction. All funds benefit GLAAD Hancock Park. [ELA]
