Located in Downtown's hotbed of activity, Top Chef contestant Alex Reznik will open FigOly inside the Luxe City Center Hotel on July 27. Named after the property's location at the intersection of Figueroa and Olympic, its menu reflects a Californian approach using seasonal produce along with a Northern Italian slant. The restaurant is divided into three areas, including a main dining room, bar and lounge, and expansive patio titled FigOly Al Fresco that overlooks Figueroa Street.
The main dining room will serve dishes such as Warm Buffalo Mozzarella; a traditional Piemontese pasta called Tagarin with porcini, ricotta, and cherry tomatoes; Brasato al Barolo, Grilled Quail; and Mussels Al Forno. Also, house-made charcuterie and oysters, for those choosing to snack a bit before hitting up Nokia Theatre or Staples Center. Al Fresco dining is devoted to dishes cooked in a wood-fired oven, like meatball sliders, tuna conserva, and pizzas topped with pork-shoulder sausage.
The cocktail menu has been compiled and created by Library Bar's (Roosevelt Hotel) Matt Biancaniello, a barman celebrated for his unique, savory, market-driven intoxicants. The Mamma Mia mixes tequila and red bell pepper, scallion, cilantro, lime and applewood-smoked salt, while the Easter Island combines vodka with cucumber, Peruvian mint, lime, and ginger-spiked Champagne. Other ingredients include arugula, 25-year old aged balsamic vinegar, beet horseradish, and lavender tea.
During FigOly's first week, reservations are only accepted via tweet to the restaurant, @FigOly.
