Patina Restaurant Group's aptly titled coffee and pastry bar, C+M or Coffee and Milk, opens today within the prior Pentimento Cafe space in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art's main courtyard. As previously mentioned, Intelligentsia coffee/espresso drinks are on offer, alongside a slew of sweet and savory plates decided by Patina founder Joachim Splichal, pastry chef Josh Graves (Ray’s & Stark Bar), and Patina corporate executive chef Gregg Wiele.
House-baked baguettes come toped with Benton’s country ham plus truffle butter and Gruyère; or Windrose Farm heirloom tomatoes, burrata and arugula. On the sweeter side Graves is selling "hand pies" or hand-held pies with seasonal stuffings (right now they're filled with peaches from Frog Hollow Peach Farm), in addition to "pop tarts" in flavors like bacon date, lemon lavender, and (Harry's Berries) strawberry pistachio. Also new to the game is something C+M has dubbed "milk sorbet." Think Straus Family Creamery dairy plus organic sugar and Tahitian vanilla bean frozen into a sorbet used in "Milkwiches" or milk sorbet sandwiches, and "Milk Handshakes" or milkshakes. Two flavors are offered daily, with or without booze.
