West Third Street, between Robertson and La Cienega, has seen its share of change in the past few years. Breadbar and Barefoot Cafe closed last year, with the latter reopening as, ahm, Duplex. Nonna's Empanadas opened a couple of years ago, and seemingly out of the blue, most recently, Kassava went under. Taking its place is Cimple Cafe and Tea Lounge, a concept from a brand called Cimplistic. The cafe softly opened last Friday, but is still putting some finishing touches on its operation. They're not yet taking credit cards, not all of the menu items are ready to serve and some interior design work still needs to be done. Still, the neighborhood seems to be taking to the place. There are table top games (tic tac toe, foosball) and books for browsing. As for the menu, it's, well, simple: sandwiches, salads, soups, smoothies, fresh juices and bakery items for breakfast, lunch and dinner. [EaterWire]
