Popular East L.A. coffeehouse Tierra Mia opens today in the former Night Toast space on Spring Street in Downtown. In what will inevitably be called the Historic Core's "Coffee Row," Tierra Mia brings its unique Latino approach to coffee, with horchata-infused lattes and "killer" cafe con leches, according to The J Gold. Other house special coffee drinks include Coco Loco Latte, a coconut-flavored coffee, and Mocha Mexicano, made with intense Guadalajalan chocolate. In additional to espresso pulled on a La Marzocco Strada (the Cadillac of espresso machines), there will be pourover drip coffees brewed to order.
This is the chain's first foray into L.A., with other locations now in South Gate, Huntington Park, Pico Rivera, and Sante Fe Springs. Owned by Stanford MBA Ulysses Romero, Tierra Mia's fifth location is open from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., which means Downtown caffeine junkies can get their fix later into the night.
