File this one away for next year during Coachella. Chef Michael Beckman (Ritz Carlton) and parter Joseph Mourani's moderately delayed Workshop Kitchen + Bar is finally slated to part doors in September. Situated in the historic El Paseo Building on North Palm Canyon Drive, Beckman is almost ready to serve his seasonal American menu replete with Octopus Carpaccio, Braised Oxtail Cannelloni with Summer Truffle, and Whole Grilled Chicken Diavolo.
Intoxicants, curated by bar manager Rene Dominguez (previously of San Francisco’s Quince), fall within the farm-to-table genre. About half the list is composed of classics, while the rest, such as the Boxers and Bobbysocks (gin, cherries, house-made rosemary gomme syrup, fresh lime juice, Angostura Bitters, sparkling water), are termed "signature" drinks.
Above, a rendering of the space designed by SOMA Architects. Beckman/Mourani are going for a clean, industrial, modern feel with serveware crafted by Heath Ceramics.
