Hot Red Bus, the first British-Indian fish and chip shop in Los Angeles, just announced its opening date of late September, pending final inspections. Attendees of LA Food & Wine's Asian Night Market got a first taste of HRB, and today the restaurant further expounded on the menu. There will be wraps (stuffed beef or lamb doner, chicken tikka, onion bahji, veg pakora, etc.) which chef Sonny Sehmi first served under the Ma Jasmin's brand at the Alhambra Farmer's Market.
Also expect samosa rolls with various fillings (saag, potato and peas), and perhaps most importantly, freshly battered fish with seasoned double fried chips sprayed with a malt vinegar mist. Instead of the proverbial aioli, the starring dip is an Indian-inspired curry sauce. The staff will encourage special recombinants so it's possible the beef doner topped chips with curry sauce (think: Indian carne asada fries!) will be created on the very first day. [EaterWire]
