FAIRFAX DISTRICT— Canter's Deli has revamped and refined its menu. The younger generation of ownership highlighted customer favorites, weeded out unpopular items such as peppered beef, and added new breakfast dishes like chocolate chip banana pancakes. [KCET]

SANTA MONICA—The former La Salsa at the Third Street Promenade has been scooped up by a Asian concept called Nice Rice. A notice shows a pending design review with the city of Santa Monica for a facade update and other changes. [Toddrickallen]

MID-CITY WEST—Playa and chef John Sedlar host chefs from Baja California, with long-time Ensenada stand La Guerrerrense, Benito Molina (of Manzanilla), and Tacos Kokopelli from Sunday to Tuesday, three weeks starting September 16. [EaterWire]
