Behold Sassafras, 1933 Group's (Bobby Green, Dimitri Komarov, Dmitry Liberman) 3,000 square foot Southern belle, to be born September 14 on Vine near Fountain. It's not every day that a Savannah townhouse is deconstructed then reconstructed into a hip to Hollywood drinkery, and that is exactly the case at Sassafras. A porch, living rooms, and several fireplaces define this adventure into the South, there's also a fully restored antique bar from which patrons can order an array of crafted barrel-aged cocktails organized by head cocktail concierge Jared Mort and head bartender/cocktologist Aaron Stepka.
Some drinks are inspired by sassafras root such as the Sassafras Royal (rye with root spirit, house made sassafras bitters, and house-brewed sarsaparilla) and some, like the the Toasted Pecan Julep (rum, brandy, house made toasted pecan liqueur, fresh mint), are not.
Of note, Sassafras is 1933 Group's first music venue, so expect live tunes on the regular. Sassafras is open nightly from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.
