9 Olives at Chaplin House, a Pricey Plate to Take a Date

New, 9 comments

Elizabeth Daniels 9/12

What was once Libertine has been redressed as 9 Olives at Chaplin House, a new contemporary American dining place from executive chef Kevin O'Connell and girlfriend Annie Henry who relocated to LA after launching O'Connells American Bistro in Buffalo, New York. Here on Sunset they're sticking to the American theme and, as of tomorrow, in the lounge one can order plates like crab cakes and lobster mac/cheese plus burgers made from pork, beer, or lamb. Dinner selects are slightly more refined but within the same genre, think halibut with truffle butter and duck with blood orange sauce. At $35 to $57 an entree, this isn't a place for a cheap date. Choose from indoor/outdoor, lounge or dining room seating. Hours of operation run Tuesday to Saturday 5 p.m. to midnight and Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
