In just under one month, big deal raw chef Matthew Kenney — co-founder of New York raw mecca Pure Food & Wine — has launched his raw cookery school Matthew Kenney Culinary, and tomorrow he soft opens M.A.K.E., his adjacent raw restaurant (resy here), both housed witin Santa Monica Place. Kenney is still finalizing M.A.K.E.'s menu during the soft opening phase, though by the official debut, October 19, all will be in place.
Replacing Valentino's stodgy Primi al Mercato inside The Market, M.A.K.E. refreshes the space with a bright, modern new look, clean lines, and earthy hues. Twotops, fourtops, and communal tables comprise the seating situation, and behind the bar wall is where the culinary school lives.
