Church & State Releases Statement on Line Cook Stabbing

New, 19 comments

According to ABC, around 1 a.m. on Sunday a chef at Church & State was stabbed while taking out the garbage. The "three male Hispanic suspects" fled the scene and the chef was hospitalized in stable condition. However, according to Church & State PR, the chef was a former line cook who only ventured into the restaurant after the stabbing actually occurred. Church & State owner Yassmin Sarmadi just now released this statement:

On behalf of the staff at Church& State Bistro and myself, and as a member of the Downtown community, I want to express my great sadness and concern about the unfortunate violence that occurred on Mateo Street late Saturday night. Our prayers go out to the family of the young man who was assaulted, and we wish him a speedy recovery. He is a former line cook in our kitchen who had left the employment of Church & State several months ago to pursue other opportunities. It is terribly unfortunate that anyone should be the victim of such violence. We are confident that the Los Angeles Police Department will make every effort to apprehend the suspects and ensure that justice is served.
