1) Culver City: The small space inside Thriftown Market and Liquor that used to house Ray's has reopened as a new Dominican spot called Food Festival Caribbean Cuisine. The owner is Ilonka Garcia, a Dominican chef formerly of the now shuttered La Cocina del Camaguey on Venice. 2043 S. La Cienega Blvd, Culver City.

2) Koreatown: Bulgogi House on Wilshire is no more. In its place is Castle 2, a second location of Castle BBQ on Western. This is a much bigger space for the Korean barbecue spot, with meals starting at $9.99. 3600 Wilshire Blvd #100C, Koreatown.

3) Costa Mesa: Portola Coffee Lab owners Jeff and Christa Duggan are now getting serious about tea. This month they opened their Seventh Tea Bar inside the OC Mart Mix. The shop not only sells and sources some of the most exquisite teas around, but ownership is interested in demonstrating how tea can be paired with different foods and sweets. 3313 Hyland Ave. Costa Mesa.
