Village Fish Market, Cafeina Galeria, More Certified Open

1) Three weeks ago, Chef Jason Segal (Katsuya) helped open Village Fish Market in Calabasas. The casual spot feels a bit like Santa Monica Seafood, if slightly more refined. Segal is serving some of the food world's latest obsessions, including toro tartar and uni covered oysters. Status: Certified Open; 26791 Agoura Rd. Calabasas, 818-871-0500.

2) The LA Weekly recently spotted a new coffee shop co-op in Silver Lake. Cafeina Galeria has been soft-open for just a few weeks, and plans on grand opening this Friday. Owner John Ownes seems like a free spirit, telling the Weekly, "[w]e're a gallery with one bitchin' espresso machine." The shop will serve Klatch espresso and coffee. Status: Soft Open; 3318 W. 3) TacosWay, a brand new Mexican-American taco joint serves mostly standard carnitas, asada, etc. Near the corner of Roscoe and Topanga Canyon, this taco stand opened last weekend. Status: Certified Open; 21604 Roscoe Blvd., 818-340-0216.

4) As of this past Friday, Playa del Rey has a new deli. Deli del Rey is Italian-style and has a few Bay Cities sandwich look-a-likes on the menu. Status: Certified Open; 8501 Pershing Dr. #3, Playa Del Rey, 310-439-2256.
