Peer Into Aventine, Hollywood's Newest Alcove

[Elizabeth Daniels, 1/29]

Last night, Aventine, a new restaurant-bar near the corner of Cahuenga and Selma, softly opened to friends, family and the neighborhood. This the side project from AV nightlife guy Gian-Paolo Veronese and his partners: Chef Adolfo Veronese, Sylvain Bitton (Les Deux), JT Torregiani (Beso), and David Jarrett (The Dolce Group). The Italian concept is hosted in a rustic room with deep reds and exposed wood beams.

As one might expect, al fresco dining is a real focus here, especially given the outdoor bar, patio, leather couches and dazzling olive trees. As Aventine is one of the seven hills on which ancient Rome was built, the restaurant's menu focuses mostly on Northern Italian classics like Orrechiette and Osso Bucco. There's a lot of pasta, insalata and pizza bianca. Open for dinner only Monday through Thursday from 5:30 p.m. - 11 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5:30 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.
