Quite a transformation over at the former Shin BBQ, operating as the minimalist-designed littlefork starting tomorrow. Dave Reiss (A-Frame, The Brig) is behind the redo, in conjunction with designer Sean Knibb (A-Frame) and chef Jason Travi (Fraiche), who marks his return to the LA dining scene with this here project after years out of town. As mentioned, this is a seafood-focused concept that "celebrates the flavors of the Atlantic Northeast," especially Boston and Montreal. Travi's menu is a mix of large and small plates such as Crispy Oyster Sliders with tartar sauce; Portuguese Mussels with linguica chickpeas and beer; and Applewood Smoked Brisket with three mustards.
A separate bar menu offers up snacky finger foods like Malt Vinegar Pork Rinds (!) and Maple Onion Rings. Which could pair with any one of Brian Butler and Dino Balocchi's (Longman & Eagle in Chicago) intoxicants. The 19th Century Sour mixes bourbon and pinot noir, meanwhile the ThaiTown Mule calls for gin, lime, Thai basil, peppercorns, and a house-made ginger beer.
Daily dinner service kicks off tomorrow at 5 p.m. and a separate late night menu begins at 10 p.m. Brunch to come.
