Bamboo Izakaya, from the owners of the former Ozumo, opens tomorrow for dinner on Ocean Avenue. The cool, clean decor is a far cry from the dark colors that haunted Ozumo in Santa Monica Place. A spacious sushi bar, relaxing patio and lots of beige now lie in the space that once was Tengu. Executive chef Toshio Sakamaki is offering a small plates menu, with items starting at $6. This is modern Asian fusion: salads with yuzu vinaigrettes, udon hot pots and a robata items. Bamboo Izakaya plans to open for lunch as well as dinner before long.
