Octavio Becerra at Circa in MB, Pizza Beer, More!

MANHATTAN BEACH—Michael Zislis — the restaurateur/hotelier behind The Strand House, Shade Hotel, and other South Bay spots — is opening a restaurant called Circa in place of his shuttered Mucho Ultima, reports Grub Street. Supposedly chef Octavio Becerra of the defunct Palate Food & Wine will run the kitchen with cocktails by Julian Cox. The launch is expected in February. [Grub Street]

HIGHLAND PARK— Pizza beer is a thing and it's happening at Maximiliano. Urban Daddy says the brew is made by Craftsman Brewing Company and it's currently on tap at the Andre Guerrero restaurant. But this is the only place in LA you'll find it. [UD]

VEGAS, BABY—Eater Vegas gets a look inside Top cheftatapant Angelo Sosa's new restaurant Poppy Den, a 5,400-square-foot Asian gastropub. His first restaurant in Vegas, this place has everything: Two levels, a casual cocktail lounge featuring a library of sakes, hand-crafted cocktails, and an actual poppy garden just off the main dining room. WEHO—There's a chance that 62-year-old Irv's Burgers on Santa Monica Boulevard could be forced to relocate. The burger stand sits on a lot with two units, one of which is where restaurant interior designer Thomas Schoos wants to open that beach-themed cafe. Apparently Sonia Hong, owner of the burger stand since 2000, was approached by associates of the cafe project and threatened with rent increases. But, property owner Steven Bohbot claims that he will incorporate Irv's into the area's new design. [Patch via GS]
