A tipster wrote in to say that The Parish was closing, which was hard to believe since the space looked pretty occupied over the past few days. However, the restaurant's staff confirms that last night was the final evening of service for Casey Lane's refined gastropub in Downtown. Above five months ago came news of the downstair's cafe for a wine bar concept by Proprietors, LLC. According to a source, the restaurant had been losing money ever since the first few months and never seemed to get its act together. Pastry chef Brooke Mosley also left the kitchen less than 4 months after opening, hinting at some early trouble.

Jonathan Gold seemed positive while Besha Rodell didn't think the food matched the "gorgeous" interior. And Yelpers were generally not as pleased, though the place did have an average of 3.5 stars. Overall, the consensus seemed to have been that the prices just didn't justify the quality of the food. No word yet from restaurant management on the future plans for the space. Developing...
