Ilan Hall Expanding The Gorbals to Williamsburg in 2014

Just off the heels of Esquire Network's Knife Fight debut comes news of Ilan Hall's expansion of his restaurant, The Gorbals, to Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The former Top Chef Season 2 winner is planning to open The Gorbals in New York City some time in April 2014. Says Hall, "My family is already there, and I'm going back and forth between the two restaurants now. I mean, I got here [The Gorbals LA] at 7 AM this morning...At some point you have to expand, and this is it. I'm only going to be 31 once."

According to Hall, the Williamsburg outlet will have similar aspects to the original, but with elements that draw from the local scene: "Well, it's in New York, in Brooklyn. It's kind of a big deal for me. It's going to be The Gorbals, in Williamsburg. It will be similar, it will have the same soul as here, but it's New York. It's a little scary, to tell you the truth. Los Angeles is a bit more nourishing and is excited about new chefs. New York is much more... I don't know. People are ready to pounce." Hall opened The Gorbals in Downtown's Historic Core over four years ago.
